Passing of Lawrence J. Keefe

Please keep our worthy division president Larry and his family in your prayers. this week. They laid to rest Larry's father yesterday who had passed earlier in the week.

Lawrence J. Keefe, lifelong resident of Verplanck, NY died March 15, 2021 at 94 years old. Larry was born October 13, 1926 to the late Lawrence J. and Marilla McCoy Keefe.
He graduated from Hendrick Hudson High School in 1943 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy when he was 17. After training he received his Combat Air Crew Wings as an Aviation Radioman Aerial Gunner flying Navy Patrol Bombers during World War II. Larry used the GI bill to receive his education in electronics. He married his wife, Patricia in 1950.
Larry worked locally for WLNA as Engineer until he operated his own business, Verplanck Appliance and TV for over 45 years retiring in 1990. He worked for BOCES of Yorktown as an AV Engineer for 10 years. He was a life member (70 years) of the Verplanck Fire Department and was also a member of the Verplanck American Legion, and the Cortlandt, Nor-Cort and Verplanck Senior Clubs and a former member of the Hendrick Hudson Lions Club, VFW, and the Peekskill Elks. Larry enjoyed his family, home, friends, traveling, electronics, and golf. In his younger days he enjoyed flying, boating, hunting, fishing, horses and snowmobiling.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Patricia Vandemark Keefe, son Lawrence J. Keefe III (Arline) of Glen Allen, VA, daughter Patricia Saizan (James) of Altamonte Springs, FL, grandchildren, Michael Keefe (Angela), Meghan Sprague (Michael) , Sean Saizan, and great-granddaughter, Aria Keefe. Larry is also survived by his brother George and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter and John.
Visitation will be at the O’Mara and Carpentieri Funeral Home in Verplanck from 4-8 pm on Thursday, March 18th. A Funeral Mass will held be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Verplanck, on Friday March 19th at 10 AM with interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. May you be blessed with good fortune as he was.
