8 September Anti-Treaty fighters attack Free State troops protecting Limerick Junction railway line in County Tipperary

Anti-Treaty activist Timothy Kenefik abducted, tortured & killed by the Free State army while on his way to his mother’s funeral

9 September Republicans retake Kenmare in Kerry, capturing 120 Free State troops along with a significant amount of munitions…this allows IRA to use this part of Kerry as a base for the remainder of the war

11 September Free State column traveling towards Kerry from Macroom (Cork)is attacked with a mine on a bridge at Carrigphooka in West Cork.
9 Free Staters killed in the blast.
