Next Tuesday we are installing our division's officers for the 2023 Hibernian Year.

This is not a "normal" business meeting,as it is open to family & friends who would like to join us for the ceremony. We're trying to get a headcount for the amount of Shephard's Pie from Morrissey's Catering we'll need, so please sign up (and any "plus 1s, 2s, etc.")

100 Years Ago This Week In The Irish Civil War
|
6 December The Irish Free State is formally established by the British House of Commons. This remained the name of the Irish state for 15 years
|
until December, 1937 when the Bunreacht na hÉireann (new Constitution of Ireland) became law of the land. The state was renamed “Eire” (Ireland).

7 December Former IRA man in the War of Independence and pro-Treaty TD, Seán Hales is shot dead by Anti-Treaty gunmen on Ormonde Quay (5 minute walk from Temple Bar) as he set out for Leinster House (parliament).

8 December Anti-Treaty leaders captured in the Four Courts in July, Rory O'Connor, Liam Mellows, Dick Barrett and Joe McKelvey are executed by the Free State in revenge for the killing of Seán Hales. This is an illegal act, as the four were captured before the Dáil passed its emergency legislation.

10 December Anti-Treaty IRA members burn down the house of TD Seán McGarry, his seven-year-old son dies in the blaze.
