DIVISION BUSINESS MEETING

TONIGHT - TUE 2/14 7p ST. MICHAEL'S

Understand this presents a conflict for some of our members.
Will be mindful of passing on information needed to the Division as we approach
"our time of the year".

100 Years Ago This Week In The Irish Civil War

13 February The London Times states “a large portion of the [pro-Treaty army] … sympathises with the Republican cause; that its movements have over and over again been betrayed before they could be carried out”

14 February Father of Home Affairs Minister Kevin O’Higgins killed in a raid on his County Laois home by Republicans.

15 February Mansion of senator Bryan Mahon in Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare is burned down by Anti-Treaty forces. In the remainder of the month, a total of 37 houses of senators are destroyed by the Anti-Treaty IRA.

18 February Up to 1,000 Free State troops drawn from towns in County Tipperary encircle the area around the Glen of Aherlow and move in from all sides simultaneously in pursuit of Republican leader Dinny Lacey and his IRA column. Lacey and one of his men are killed and many of his column are captured. Lacey was the head of the IRA's 2nd Southern Division and his death crippled the Republican's cause in the Tipperary/Waterford area
