Upcoming Events

from Dooley Division President Mike Canning

Brothers,

On the heels of our first virtual meeting this past week, I wanted to follow up on two items of discussion. First, with uncertainty around the rescheduling of the Church Hill Irish Festival I ask that all Brothers who have not paid annual dues please do so by Thursday, April 30th.
  • Please submit dues payments directly to Financial Secretary John Costello owenson357@comcast.net ($35 annual dues or $10 for Brothers over 75, land address: 9524 Meredith Creek Lane, Glen Allen, VA 23060) OR send ticket stubs for 10 tickets sold or purchased on your own in lieu of annual dues payment with $100 to Raffle Chair Jim Woods Jwoods0701@gmail.com (Land address: 9506 Pine Shadow Drive, Henrico, VA 23238).
  • In the past two raffle seasons we have also asked Brothers to sell two more tickets each to offset the increased raffle prize of $5000. If those two tickets have also been sold or purchased, please provide them to Jim as well. I myself still need to sell those additional two tickets and will get on the phone this week to do so.
  • If any Brother has been affected in recent weeks at work or business by a COVID-related pay or wage disruption, reduction, unexpected furlough or certainly a lay-off that presents a challenge for dues payment or raffle ticket purchase, please let Jim, John, myself or any Brother know so that we can account for that.
  • If you haven’t done so already, please read through my message in the April Dooley Dispatch http://aohrichmond.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Dooley-Dispatch-April-2020-v1.0.pdf discussing Irish Festival, raffle drawing, dues and all the other recent unprecedented turn of events.
Secondly, I would ask that everyone make an effort to reach out by to a Hibernian Brother and ask how they are doing. We will be establishing a phone tree in an effort to make sure that none are missed but in the meantime, please start to do so at least with those Brothers you know well enough to already have their number.

The current necessary guidelines of social distancing run completely contrary to our inclination as Hibernians and Irish-Americans toward a hand shake, a quick joke enjoyed together and well-poured Pints shared side-by-side. Until we can return to that, lets do our best to stay in touch and look out for each other.

In Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity,

Mike Canning
